What is the Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition (OHWC)?

The Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition (OHWC) is an incorporated, not-for-profit body. The Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition serves as a unifying structure across the province, helping to facilitate communication among workplace health stakeholders and promoting the importance of using a comprehensive approach to create healthy and safe workplaces in Ontario.

The Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition is comprised of:

  • A Board of Directors that provides organizational leadership and direction

  • A Membership who elect the Board of Directors

  • Four Standing Committees related to the Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition's core functions

What does the Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition do?

The four core functions of the Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition are divided into Standing Committees: Membership Engagement, Public Policy and Systemic Change, Partnership Development, and Sustainability.

OHWC Goals

Long-Term Goals: 2010-2015

  1. A comprehensive and sustainable Government of Ontario healthy workplace strategy will exist in Ontario.
  2. There will be a growing membership of stakeholders and partners committed to the strategy.
  3. There will be optimal collaboration and coordination so that implementation will be well resourced, effective and efficient.
  4. Ontario organizations will implement a comprehensive approach to healthy workplace as an integral part of their business strategy and operations.

Short-Term Goals: 2011

The short-term goals and/or work plans of the four Standing Committees will be posted on the website in the first quarter of 2011.

Who is part of the Ontario Healthy Workplace Coalition?

Stakeholders and partners involved in workplace health including: Public Sector; Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO); Private Sector; Large Business Employers (100 employees+); Small Business Employers (less than 100 employees); Union/Organized Labour; Workplace Health Service Providers; Ontario Occupational Health and Safety System Partners; Public Health; and Workplace Health Academia/Research.
